This stage was meant to end at Venta de Santa Lucia where there is no accommodation. I followed the official route over the river Ebro to Pina for elevenses of beer and pizza, then crossed the bridge back again and took the GR99 to Quinto, following the river. Pleasant route, hot afternoon though there was some shade. Arrived in Quinto at 2:30 after the 24 km walk, and all I wanted from the bar was a bottle of fizzy water. I then discovered that the bar had keys for the pension.
My room leads off a first floor courtyard with a rack for drying clothes. So I did more washing than usual.
The church bell is striking. Good, a Saturday evening mass. No notice board outside, of course. The bell ringing at 17:45 gave me time to find the Spanish booklet of readings, so I was able to follow the service better.
Afterwards I walked up to the old church, destroyed in the Civil War and recently rebuilt, though much remains to be done. Wonderful views.
Back to the bar for a meal of tapas, including a pig in blanket and a slice of black pudding.
